VDA-KLT container system

is a small load carrier from the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) as a system-compatible plastic container in the modular dimensions 300 x 200 mm, 400 x 300 mm and 600 x 400 mm.
The “classic” container has the designation VDA-C-KLT, is double-walled, has a ribbed base and has a load capacity of 50 kg. A disadvantage is the relative loss of space due to the thick walls and the increased risk of fire due to the double walls.
On the initiative of Volkswagen and Arca Systems, the containers were redesigned and are known as RL-KLT (R for redesign, L for light). The main features of the RL-KLT are

single-walled instead of double-walled construction,
smooth instead of ribbed base.

Result: 38.6 % less container weight, 38.8 % more filling volume. Even though the load capacity is only 30 kg, it meets the requirements of the automotive industry.
Other modifications include

Light-KLT: smooth base with water drainage holes,
R-KLT: with composite floor,
Folding KLT: with composite floor.
