Sorting and distribution systems
Sorting and distribution systems refers to a technology for sorting (or allocating) parcels or packages
parcels or packages according to delivery routes or destinations, e.g. for CEP services (courier, express and parcel services),
Item units according to customer orders in the second picking stage (two-stage picking) (primarily for logistics centers with high picking performance, depending on technology and unit size with sorting capacities of 2,000 to 40,000 parts/h).
Prerequisites for the use of sorters include the automatic identification of the units (via barcode or transponder) and the suitability of the goods for conveying.
Regardless of their performance, sorters are primarily differentiated according to their functional principle. The most important principles are those listed under the term “sorter”. Cf. distribution harp.
