Serial Interface

A serial interface is a connection in which information is usually transmitted bit by bit in the form of bytes in chronological order via a single channel. Corresponding standards or recommendations for standardization can be found under the designations RS232C, V.24 or TTY. For a long time, the serial interface was the state of the art for coupling different devices for data transmission. It is increasingly being replaced by computer networks and bus systems.
