Order completion
Order completion, also known as the conclusion of an order, is an essential step in warehouse and logistics management that takes place after goods have been picked. For shipping orders, all items of an order or shipment are combined into loads and shipping units are formed. This process makes it possible to achieve physical completion of the order at the point of dispatch.
The load consolidation includes the consolidation of all articles and items of an order or shipment into one or more shipping units that are prepared for transportation. This includes checking the completeness and accuracy of the goods and organizing the shipping units for efficient and safe transport.
An important aspect of order completion is the printing of delivery bills and address labels, which are attached to the shipping units. These documents contain important information about the contents of the shipment, the delivery address and other relevant details for the shipping process.
Once the delivery bill and address label have been printed, the processing of the individual order is generally completed in the warehouse management system (WMS). This includes posting the goods withdrawal from stock and updating the order status in the system.
Order completion is a crucial step in the shipping process as it ensures that all necessary actions have been taken to prepare the goods for shipment and physically complete the shipping order. Efficient order completion contributes to the timely and accurate delivery of goods and supports the efficiency of overall warehouse and logistics operations.
