Multimodal transport

1. is the technical and organizational linking of several modes of transport (e.g. truck, rail, air, ship) in freight transport. See also intermodal transport. – 2. refers to the transportation of goods by different means of transport (broken transport), for which different legal provisions apply on at least two legs of the journey, on the basis of a single, uniform contract of carriage which provides for only one place of acceptance and delivery. It is regulated in §§ 452 ff. HGB.
