This is a unit which, after being picked by the order picker, is dispensed either into collection containers or onto conveyor belts. It is important to emphasize that the dispensing unit does not necessarily have to be identical to the picking unit. An illustrative example of this procedure is abbreviated two-stage picking. Here, an outer packaging unit is removed while the already picked sales units are placed in customer-specific picking containers. This flexibility makes it possible to optimize storage and picking processes by efficiently coordinating different packaging and picking units. The use of the dispensing unit plays a decisive role in the logistics sector, particularly in increasing productivity and reducing storage costs.
