EANCOM

is a standard for electronic data exchange that is provided by EAN International as a UN/EDIFACT subset for all industries. The name is a portmanteau of the terms EAN and Communication.
The standard was created in the 1980s and published in 1990 as the EANCOM Manual. Originally intended for the retail and consumer goods industries, the standard has become the most widely used and is used in sectors such as electrical engineering, healthcare, freight forwarding, publishing and others.
The EAN 128 standard (EAN 128) is more widely used in logistics.
