Duty cycle

The duty cycle is the proportion of time in which a system is active (switched on) in relation to the period under consideration. The T. is dimensionless and is usually given as a percentage (a T. of 0 % corresponds to a permanently switched off system, a T. of 100 % to a permanently active system).
