Central and Eastern European countries

(abbreviated to CEE countries) refers to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe that were admitted to the European Union as part of the EU enlargement in 2004 and 2007. These are Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Romania (although the latter two actually belong to south-eastern Europe). Croatia is not a member of the EU, but is also counted among the CEES.
