BGV

The Employer’s Liability Insurance Association Regulations (BGV) are an important part of occupational health and safety in Germany. They serve to ensure the safety and health of employees in various industries and work areas.

The BGV comprise a large number of regulations that define specific requirements for occupational health and safety. They cover various aspects, including fire protection, electrical safety, work equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE), hazardous substances, ergonomic work design and much more.

The BGVs are drawn up and regularly updated by the employers’ liability insurance associations. They are based on legal requirements such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act (ArbSchG) and the Accident Prevention Regulations (UVV) as well as on findings from practice and research.

Compliance with the BGV is mandatory for companies and is monitored by the responsible supervisory authorities. Violations of the BGV can lead to fines and other legal consequences.

The BGVs are divided into different areas, depending on the hazards that can occur in the workplace. These include, for example, BGV A1 for construction work, BGV D29 for the handling of hazardous substances or BGV C22 for the use of ladders and steps.

The BGVs are therefore an indispensable tool for occupational safety in companies and help to prevent accidents and damage to health in the workplace. They provide clear guidelines and recommendations for the safe design of workplaces and work processes.
