ABC-articles

are created by classifying all items in an assortment according to certain criteria, e.g. sales quantity, turnover rate or access frequency. A articles have high sales volumes, turnover rates or access frequencies, C articles have low ones. The boundaries between ABC groups are defined on a case-by-case basis. Sorting a criterion according to the frequency of occurrence results in the so-called Lorenz curve.
