The software company TUP has reason to celebrate: barely 14 months after the foundation stone was laid for the second construction phase, the highly efficient office building has been completed. With a gross floor area of around 1,750 square meters, it expands the company campus in Stutensee and creates space for 80 new employees. TUP once again relied on the Vollack Group for general planning and construction. Together with the experts for sustainable and energy-efficient buildings, TUP owners and builders Simon and Mathias Thomas officially inaugurated the new building.
For more than 40 years, TUP has been developing customized warehouse management systems for national and international companies in various industries. The concept of the intralogistics IT experts works. This is reflected not least in the continuous growth of the company. In order to sustainably position themselves for the future and further expansion, the owners Simon and Mathias Thomas invested in a further two, partly three-story office building. With its completion, this building now provides space for 80 additional employees at the Stutensee site. The modern working environment offers office space, meeting and project rooms, technical areas as well as several tea kitchens which, in addition to catering for the physical well-being of the workforce, also serve their purpose as communication and meeting points. “Our ‘Construction Phase 2′, which the planners have tailored specifically to our requirements, proves once again that it was the right decision to continue the trusting cooperation with our long-standing partner Vollack. We look forward to implementing future-oriented software solutions for our customers’ intralogistics in the modern premises,” says Simon Thomas, owner and, as CEO, responsible for commercial management.
A harmonious unit
Vollack already realized a certified office passive house in 2016 as a creative workspace for the successful software company. The Newspaper BNN already reported on TUP’s special ‘zero-energy house’. The new building now connects to the existing building via a connecting structure. Architecturally, the buildings thus form a harmonious unit: On the outer skin of the structure, the interplay of gray plaster and curtain-white facade cladding is repeated. Inside, walls of exposed concrete with seamlessly installed wooden windows and green acoustic modules set accents. Cubic functional units for archive, technical and service rooms break up the office structure. The transition between the existing and new buildings is formed by a high, spacious room with an interior steel bridge that can be accessed from the second floor.
In terms of energy, the new building is also based on the certified office passive house of the first construction phase. Claudius Uiker, partner at Vollack, explains: “TUP had the vision of an environmentally friendly building solution that saves CO2 emissions in the long term, reduces operating costs and creates a working environment in which employees feel comfortable. The new building follows the BEG-40 standard, which places high demands on energy efficiency. To ensure a climate-friendly heating and cooling supply, we again relied on an ice latent heat storage system in the second construction phase. This will ensure that the building is almost energy self-sufficient and independent of the existing building from an energy perspective.”
Working environment with a feel-good atmosphere
The sustainable building solution not only has a positive impact on climate protection and operating costs. It also strengthens the employer brand. Mathias Thomas, TUP owner and managing director, emphasizes: “We are proud to have created a particularly environmentally friendly working environment that keeps future generations in mind.” As a highly efficient building complex and an outstanding example of corporate responsibility and employee satisfaction, the TUP campus is an asset for the entire region.
