Token Ring

describes an access procedure in a computer network. A token is an information unit with user data and addresses or just a transmission authorization token that is passed from one computer to the next in a predefined sequence. In contrast to the CSMA/CD method, the runtime of a token from a source to the destination can be calculated and is always the same for the same network structure (real-time capability), but the achievable data transmission rate is lower.
