Fire Protection

Fire protection is a crucial aspect in the planning and implementation of warehouse and logistics centers. Various requirements and guidelines must be taken into account and implemented to ensure the safety of the facilities. There are two main types of fire protection measures: active and passive. Active measures include sprinkler systems and fire alarm systems, which aim to detect and fight fires at an early stage. Passive measures, on the other hand, include structural elements such as fire compartments and escape routes, which serve to prevent the spread of fire and enable people to evacuate safely. When planning storage and logistics centers, the relevant guidelines and regulations must be observed. Up to a storage height of nine meters, the provisions of the Industrial Building Directive (InduBau) apply. From a height of nine meters, the requirements of VDI guideline 3564 apply, which contains special recommendations for fire protection in high-bay warehouses. In addition, the guidelines of the property insurers (VdS) and DIN 18230, which deals with structural fire protection in industrial buildings, must be observed. These regulations define standards and requirements that must be observed when planning and constructing warehouses and logistics centers in order to ensure the safety of people and property.
