Discontinuous Conveyor

Discontinuous conveyors work in so-called intermittent operation. Transportation takes place in several individual movements (e.g. starting, lowering, lifting the load, etc.) that are performed one after the other or sometimes simultaneously. Examples of U. are forklifts, cranes, automated guided vehicles, etc. Characteristic features of the U. are Interrupted material flow/work cycles, Drives in intermittent/short-time operation, loading and unloading at standstill, partly freely movable. The throughput is equal to the reciprocal of the cycle time. The cycle time is the sum of the individual cycle times (from load cycle and idle cycle). Source: logipedia / Fraunhofer IML
